ABSTRACT
The purpose of the present study is to estimate the determinants of the real exchange rate and the role of these determinants in the New Zealand economy. After a number of years of strong growth, the economy experienced a recession in early 2008. This study will also identify the effects of this recession on RER and its determinants. Furthermore, comparisons between different exchange rate regimes in the history of New Zealand will be also made in the present study. (fragment of text)
